Ok, that was a test to see if I still remembered how to post! Geesh, haven't been here in forever, my computer had been on the fritz and just miraculously decided to behave. Hi everybody! So. They're cancelling SG-1, eh? Figure it was inevitable. I'll admit even though I still watch on Fridays the all-newers, it's kinda lost something (besides RDA, obvious). Just want PTB to tie up loose ends and finish up Season 11 (halfway 10?) like they promised. And the 200th, not my fave, either. I was reading some of the reactions down below and I tend to agree. Like they had run out of storylines and were just playing on their little playground with the big ol' Gate in the background. Hmph! - Did anyone hear about the Star Trek 40th anniversary auction at Christie's in New York? ! heard they took in around 4 and a half million at the end. I was scrolling thru their website and they pretty much sold everything they could-props, costumes, scrips, you name it. Captain Picard's uniform went for around 15,000 bucks! Pretty expensive to own a piece of Star Trek history. I wonder if Colonal O'Neill's uniform would go for that much 30 years from now! Need some suggestions. I will be going to Germany for a week on a business trip next month and don't plan on spending the "off time" watching only CNN. I'm bringing my video player and a some movies and other tv show dvd's but I also want to bring some SG1 eps. I have seasons 1-8 on dvd. - I'll have to think about the episodes, but make sure you take the right adapter to recharge your video player. I fried my curling iron - and a few locks of hair in Germany a few years ago. I missed all of Stargate SG-1 except for a few mins when some sort of buzzard was hovering over them all. THen I sort of saw Atlantis. As usual, I really enjoyed SGA. I have to say it certainly reminded me of an old SG-1 ep what w/ them deciding to go it alone and sneak thru the gate. Anyway, I really enjoy the replicator episodes and this one looks like it's going to be a fun ride. I must say initially when Jack came on, he seemed a bit .... scary. Then as the ep went on it seemed he settled in and was back to old Jack. I'm assuming they shoot these eps out of sequence so don't know why that's how it seemed but...

Did anyone ELSE think Jack looked.. scary? I mean, initially. Anyway, glad to see him back.

- I liked it but have to say... I like SHEPPARD episodes. Just like I liked JACK episodes. If they are barely going to show the Sheppard character... I'm a bit bummed about the ep. Chicken in the Library

A chicken enters a library, walks up to the librarian and says "Book book"

The librarian hands the chicken two books, which it tucks under its wing and leaves the library.

A few minutes later, the chicken re-enters the library, walks up to the desk, hefts the two books onto the counter and says to the librarian "Book book".

The librarian is puzzled, but nonetheless replaces the two books with two more books, which the chicken tucks under its wing, and leaves the library...

A few more minutes pass, and the chicken reappears with the two books. It places them on the counter, looks earnestly up at the librarian and says "Book book?"

Perplexed, librarian gives the chicken two more books, and the chicken once again leaves the library. However, by now the librarian is so overcome with curiosity that she hurries out of the building just in time to see the chicken disappear into the woods across the street. She follows the chicken a short ways through the woods until it arrives at a small pond at the edge of a swamp, where a large frog is sitting on stump.

The chicken presents the books to the frog, who looks at them closely and says "Reddit Reddit".

- Yippee! I actually liked both SG-1 and Atlantis on the same night! That hasn't happened in a long while. Just got home from work and watched my handy-dandy copy that my little time-saving device recorded for me. Of course, I haven't slept in about oh.... 30 hours so I might be prejudiced. I loved the Daniel/Vala/Adria interactions on the Ori ship. I wasn't too predisposed to like Adria but I can see how I could like her as a character (nothing beats Baal though!) My son has asked for Seasons 1-9 of Stargate SG-1 for his birthday (Sunday). I've done some casual looking, but he's talked as if this is available in a set. Do I need to buy nine different seasons or is there a S1-9 set? Then there's the question of how much this will set me back...

The good news is Atlantis got renewed. The better news is from the sounds of it, at least SOME of the SG-1 characters will be moving to Atlantis. The bad news is... SG-1 is cancelled. ~sigh~ Well... The future of Stargate is in question today, as SCI FI Channel has cancelled the long-running Stargate SG-1, Multichannel News reported today and a GateWorld source has confirmed. The news regrettably follows the airing of the show's milestone two-hundredth episode on Friday.

Stargate Atlantis, meanwhile, has been renewed for a fourth season, with the network hoping to see that the spin-off series can stand alone, according to a source.

SG-1 has struggled in the ratings all summer, with the record-breaking tenth season premiering with a 1.4 household rating -- down more than 20 percent from last season's average. After a brief climb to a 1.6 in its second week, the show fell to a 1.3 in week four.

Viewers and production personnel alike have blamed a number of factors for the show's dramatically lower ratings, from SCI FI and Sony's lack of promotion to the removal of anchor show Battlestar Galactica from the Friday night line-up, to new competition from such shows as USA's hit Monk.

Though also down significantly in the ratings this summer, Atlantis has consistently scored better than SG-1.

"Studio executives are working to identify an alternative outlet for Stargate SG-1," Multichannel News said, citing sources close to the production.

Stargate SG-1 premiered on Showtime in the United States in July, 1997, where it aired for five years before the pay cable network cancelled it. In 2002 MGM brokered a deal to continue production and move the show to SCI FI Channel, where it became the cable channel's biggest hit and aired ten times per week in reruns.

In addition to holding the record for the longest-running science fiction series ever produced in North America, the series is largely responsible for making SCI FI a Top 10 cable network. Though the writers intended to end the show several times, its larger, newfound audience on basic cable rejuvinated the series, extending its life far beyond the average science fiction series.

Series lead Richard Dean Anderson left the show in 2004, to be replaced by Ben Browder and Beau Bridges when the show relaunched in a new creative direction in Season Nine. Ratings remained strong, though no longer at their historic peak. The show's producers had even intended to rebrand the show Stargate Command, but SCI FI ultimately opted to stick with the established SG-1 name.

Ironically, this is the first year since Season Four that plans were already in place, both creatively and in signed actor contracts, for another year. The show has lived on year-to-year since moving to SCI FI, with the writers forced to write a possible series finale every year -- only to find the show renewed once again.

Following the September 22 mid-season finale, SCI FI Channel intends to air the final 10 episodes of Stargate SG-1 beginning in March, 2007, a source confirmed to GateWorld.

What is to come? Both the producers and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer have expressed a desire to continue the hit franchise with not just Stargate Atlantis, but something new in the future -- be it an SG-1 feature film or TV mini-series, or a third television show. The benefits of a simultaneous dual production in Vancouver, with two projects sharing producers, writers, and crew members, are tremendous for the studio. And Stargate is owner MGM's flagship television property, having recently been compared to its venerable "James Bond" film franchise in importance.

MGM has a great deal invested in an expanding field of licensing, official conventions, syndication, and international TV distribution. Notable is the upcoming MMORPG video game Stargate Worlds, perhaps the franchise's largest licensed project to date, due out at the end of 2007.

Meanwhile, Stargate Atlantis will have the chance to step out of the shadow of its parent show and stand on its own two feet. Though the foundational chapter of the Stargate saga draws to a close, hope remains for the future.

  - I loved the reaction to Mitchell's comment at the end about the Gen's reaction to "Get down!" and how everyone was shocked that he'd laugh about it, yet that's exactly what the Gen kept telling him to do (relax and be himself). Christopher Judge talks about 'Stargate'

Christopher Judge is distinctive even when he's out of character as the alien Teal'c on "Stargate SG-1," given his brawny, 6-foot-2 frame and impressively rich baritone.

Ironically, viewers didn't get to hear much of his voice during the early years of the science-fiction adventure, when his character with the stylish Jaffa species logo on his forehead was limited to a few words of wisdom.

That's changed. As the series marks its 200th episode Friday, part of its 10th season, Teal'c has become a real talker. The explosion of dialogue created challenges for Judge, who's been with the show since it started on Showtime and moved to the Sci Fi Channel.

A Los Angeles native, Judge attended the University of Oregon on a football scholarship and was a three-time All-American. He says he happily adjusted to life in Vancouver, where "Stargate" films, and is remodeling a house with his fiancee, actress Gia Patton.

The couple has a 17-month-old girl and Judge has three other children, ages 15, 11 and 9.

He and castmate Michael Shanks (Dr. Daniel Jackson) are close friends and have a production company together. Judge's acting credits include the movie "Snow Dogs" and voicing the Magneto character on the series "X-Men: Evolution."

During a recent vacation break in Las Vegas, Judge got on the phone to discuss "Stargate," among TV's longest-running scripted cable and sci-fi series, and the landmark 200th episode, which includes original series star Richard Dean Anderson.

AP: What do fans respond to in your character?

Judge: You're always in a good position when you're the alien on the sci-fi show. You're going to have fans strictly from that.

AP: Why is playing the alien a good spot to be in?

Judge: I think it's because everyone's pondering, `Is there life out there?'. Well, you are the incarnation of what people wonder about. So how you behave, how you move, everything is something people have debated forever. I think there is a natural attraction to the alien character because you are the visual personification of what they are still wondering about.

AP: How did Teal'c change from observer to orator?

Judge: In all honesty, I guess it started around season six or seven, when Rick — Richard Dean Anderson — wanted to do less and take episodes off. Amanda (Tapping, who plays Lt. Col. Carter) and Michael (Shanks) already talked a lot, so somebody had to pick up the slack. It was the correct time to do it because the story line was introduced with the freedom of my race and them trying to straighten up their situation as far as establishing a new form of government.

AP: Did you welcome the change?

Judge: As an actor, a lot of times you have to speak so much exposition and my character didn't have to do that. The great thing was everything that he said, because he didn't say much, was important. And people would remember it, or take notice. Then it was kind of daunting: I'd look at scripts and have these three-page long scenes of straight dialogue. I was, `Can I have a little fight scene in here or something?'. Memorizing lines is like working a muscle. When you go years without having to memorize many of these long monologues, the muscle becomes weaker. So it was actually great for me to get back and start exercising that muscle again.

AP: Were you a sci-fi fan before you were cast?

Judge: I think I was pretty much the average sci-fi fan. I cut my teeth, as everyone did, on `Star Trek.' Then `Star Wars,' and so on. I think we're all lucky to have seen `Star Trek,' `Star Wars' and `Matrix' in one life time.

AP: Critics have noted "Stargate" has gotten an infusion of humor. Do you enjoy that?

Judge: The 200th episode is really a love and thank-you letter to the fans. I think they will be wildly entertained. The 100th episode was more of a kind of an inside joke for us, a wink and a nod. But this is really for the fans and really accessible and they'll understand what every joke is. It's probably the most fun I've had in shooting an episode in the entire 10 years.

AP: Teal'c is one muscular guy. How do you stay in shape?

Judge: My 3 1/2 months off I generally gain 60 to 70 pounds. Usually every Jan. 1 is when I start back. It's a lot of workouts a day. I start with three, by the end of January I'm up to four workouts a day and by two weeks before the show I'm up to five a day. The maintenance is the worst part of it because of early call times (on the set). So I get up at 4 in the morning every day and do an hour of cardio and some weights.

AP: Have you and your fiancee set a wedding date?

Judge: We don't have a date set but we did just buy a house, so I think the remodeling of the house is going to take precedence over the wedding. She knows I need a workout room, a theater and that's about it. And she has the say on everything else.

On SG1 the leader of the other SG group was wearing the dark cammies but he had on nice new LT TAN boots on. Shouldnt they have been dark ones? O.k. I got interupted one too many time w/ SG-1 and will have to rewatch.
Saw all of Atlantis..Higlight below to read my take. SPOILER ALERT!

First of all... Rodney getting shot in the hiney... and then on Morphine! What a riot! "Have you seen a guy around that looks like you but has messy hair.. a pretty girl...and another guy who's a cave man??" ROTFLOL!!

Now... on to the rest. Has anyone noticed that villagers in StarGateLand in general are.. how shall I put this... LESS then BRIGHT? I mean... did they REALLY think the Wraith would just say THANK YOU and leave?! Duh. I mean.. it's hard for me to work up much sympathy for these folks. Gee whiz. What were they THINKING?

Oh.. and hold the phone! Ronan was MARRIED??? Was that is WIFE? Wow! A little back story there. I really wouldn't have pictured Ronan that touchy feely, either. Btw... wasn't that head WRAITH guy particularly ugly? Gack! They look enve more creepy w/ OUT hair it seems. Oh.. and was I the only one channeling both Clint Eastwood Spaghetti Westerns AND Arnie movies? LOL!

Liked the scene w/ Sheppard and Teylo w/ Teyla finishing his sentences... "I don't really have good..." "Social skills???" LOL! Funny... also touching. And... dare I say it!!! It was ALMOST a shipper moment! WOO HOO!!!! I liked how they established tham all as "family." Obviously that's what they were going for and I think it worked.

All in all I enjoyed the episode. I thought it was fun how Carson and Rodney fought over the gun... and Carson actually dispatched the head wraith. Also Sheppard's Wraith body count inflated higher and higher. That was cute.

Well... Going to beddy now. Anybody else want to share there thoughts and feelings on tonights shows????

Hmmm... let me try to do this w/ out really spoiling anything....

I thought SG-1 was o.k. I liked that they had both casts interacting... a little bit. Not really a lot besides Carter and Rodney. It was o.k.

I liked Atlantis. Lucius... Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Gack! What a slimey little ..ugh. This ep reminded me a LITTLE of the Broca Divide. ANWYAY, I thought it was fun. Anyone else have any opinions to share??

That is until I was surfing IMDb and found that he played the young Ernest Littlefield in the Stargate SG-1 Season 1 episode called "The Torment of Tantalus". Yep, that's right, he'd been a Stargate guest star long before becoming a Stargate regular. LOL
