Northampton, Mass. (WGGB) — A West Brookfield man was arraigned Wednesday on assault and battery charges in connection with an alleged assault outside the Ware High School gymnasium that had been setup as an emergency shelter due to power outages following the October 2011 snowstorm.
That’s according to Mary Cary with the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office.
52-year-old Kenneth Prouty of West Brookfield, was arraigned in Hampshire Superior Court on charges including indecent assault and battery and assault and battery in connection with this incident.
Prouty is alleged to have sexually assaulted a 35-year-old woman, who was an acquaintance, by forcing her to perform a sexual act.
Prouty was released by Judge C. Jeffrey Kinder on personal recognizance with conditions that he have no contact, direct or indirect, with the victim, that he stay away from the victim and her residence, and that he surrender his license to carry firearms and all firearms in his possession to the police during the pendency of the case.
