Subject: Getting What He Wants - June Challenge

Here is my attempt at the June Challenge. Hope you all enjoy it.

Takes place at any given part in the series where Harm and Mac’s relationship was going well and could have possibly taken the next step.

As always, this is unedited so all mistakes are courtesy of me.

Harm’s Apartment
North of Union Station
1915 hours (9:15 pm local)

Mac sighed heavily as she tossed her pizza crust back into the box, then leaned back into the sofa. “I am… so full.”

Harm chuckled then replied with a smile, “That’s what you got for eating almost an entire pizza.” The half-hearted punch to his arm made Harm’s smile just a little bit bigger. He snuck a look at Mac from the corner of his eyes to find her smiling brightly. Oh how he loved her smile…

“What?” Mac asked. Harm looked towards her and feigned ignorance by saying, “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” all while trying to hide his smirk, knowing he was caught.

Mac shook her head in playfullness and got up to put the movie in the dvd player. She could feel Harm looking at her form from behind and she couldn’t help the involuntary flutter of her heart from knowing she captivated his gaze.
Once the movie was in the player Mac returned to her spot on the sofa, leaving some distance between her and Harm. “Ah hem.” Mac looked over at Harm as he cleared his throat to see him pat the empty space next to him and tilt his head, motioning for her to move closer to him.

Mac quirked a smile and shook her head no in teasing. Harm raised his eyebrow in retort, causing Mac to bite her thumb nail in an effort to keep her laughter at bay. “Pah-leease!” Harm begged with his bright white smile that got to her everytime.

"That's a very nice smile, and I'm sure most of the time it gets you what you want but it doesn’t work on me.” Mac laughed heartily when Harm grabbed his chest in mock pain. Putting her hand on his arm, she played along. “Aww, poor baby’s a little hurt?” She leaned over towards Harm and said in a voice above a whisper, “Too bad,” then smiled at his facial reaction.

Harm watched as Mac turned her attention back to the movie. He watched how her eyes twinkled with the reflection of the tv and how the corner of her mouth turned up slightly during a cute part of the movie. He felt a smile forming on his face, all because he looked at this one woman.

“What?!” Mac turned her head towards Harm and asked with a slight chuckle in her voice. “Why do you keep staring at me?”

Harm reached across the short distance between them and took Mac’s hand into his own and said, “Because you are a beautiful woman, and I’d rather watch you than a movie any day.” When Mac blushed, Harm knew he had Mac’s full attention. Tilting his head again, Harm continued with a soft smile. “Now come over here and cuddle with me.”

Mac sobered at his comment, realizing that most of the playfulness was gone from Harm’s voice. She liked how much closer they’ve become lately but they have yet to spend the time in each others arms. They’d laugh, they’d joke, they’d even flirt openly with one another. But they also both respected each others personal space and have yet to cross that line with each other.

‘Now’s a good a time as any,’ Mac thought. Mac slid over towards Harm’s corner of the sofa and stopped when she felt his thigh against hers. “Better?” She quirked an eyebrow up and smiled softly, hoping to bring the flirtiness back into their conversation.

Harm smiled brightly then brought his face closer to hers before replying. “Much better.” At Mac’s warm smile, Harm brought his lips to hers for a soft kiss.

Although Harm would never admit it, Mac was right almost ninety nine percent of the time. But the one thing she was wrong about paid off for Harm in a big way. Although she’d never admit Harm’s smile did have an affect on her. And in this case, his smile did get him what he wanted.
