Subject: Finding our way back to each other Chapter 10

This will be the last chapter for now. I have a few ideas on how to continue this, but I won't have time to write in the next two or three weeks. I'm leaving this in a good place though, and I'll post more when life slows down. :)

Harm's new position is not real, and I have no idea if it could happen this way, but my story means my rules, so this is how it goes. :)

Thanks for sticking with me, and I'm sorry that this chapter is short.


CHAPTER 10

Bianca's apartment
Naples, Italy

Mac knocked on the front door of Bianca's apartment. She had arrived in Naples that same day, and she wanted to pick up Pavarotti fast. She'd really missed her faithful friend.

Bianca opened the door. “Come in, come in. Show me the ring.” She demanded.

Mac held her hand for Bianca to see.

“I can't believe you're married.” Bianca studied the ring. “And with a man who has great taste in jewelry.”

“So, where's my...” Mac didn't get to finish the question before Pavarotti came running. “There you are.” She started rubbing his ears. “How are you baby? Have you been a good boy for Aunty Bianca?”

“He has. He even chased away a guy who was about to climb in my bedroom window.”

“You're kidding?”

“Nope. He held on to the guys pants while I called for someone to come pick up the bastard. I had to laugh by the whole thing.” Bianca chuckled. “Talk about bad luck, breaking into an apartment with two angry dogs and a girl with a gun under her pillow.”

Mac chuckled lightly. “You sleep with your gun under your pillow?”

“Sure. A girl's gotta be prepared.” Bianca ruffled Pavarotti's ears. “Now, tell me all about the wedding.”

Mac smiled sweetly. “Well, we went to city hall, said our wows and then we had a nice lunch with some of our friends. It was perfect.”

“And when do you get to see Mr tall, dark and handsome again?” Bianca said teasingly.

Mac gave her a pout. “I have no idea.”

“Poor thing.” Bianca laughed softly. “How will you survive?”

“Phone calls, e mail, web camera. We'll just have to make the best out of it.” Mac smiled. “But the important thing is that we're together now.”

“So, how romantic was it?” Bianca teased.

Mac blushed. “It was... It felt right.” She knew she looked like a lovesick fool, but it didn't bother her at all. “I'm happy.”

“You look happy.” Bianca confirmed.



JAG Headquarters
A week later

Harm whistled as he walked back to his office after court. He had been in a great mood for weeks now, and he had one good reason for it. Mac.

“Commander Rabb, my office.” General Cresswell ordered from his position in the bullpen.

“Yes, sir.” Harm hurried to put his briefcase on his desk before walking to the General's office.

“Sit down Commander.” Cresswell said as Harm walked inside the room.

Harm did as he was told.

“Congratulations Captain Rabb.” Cresswell smiled. “It's official.”

“Thank you, sir.” Harm let out a releaved chuckle. “I never thought this day would come.”

“I'm pleased to inform you that your new assignment will be as an advisor in international law, mainly you'll be taking care of business concerning NATO. This is a completely new position created by the Secretary of Navy to make sure that a high ranking JAG officer will be responsible of the legal advices concerning operations within NATO. It's not a big command, but you'll have people under you. Youll be stationed in Naples, Italy, but you'll be spending a lot of time at Naval Air Station Sigonella, where you'll advise our forces on NATO operations.” The General offered a warm smile. “You'll also be travelling a lot Captain, but at least you'll be close to Colonel Mackenzie when you are in town.”

“Yes, sir.”Harm smiled.

“You report for new duty in six days, Monday morning. You can wrap up your office and delegate your cases today, and then I'm sure you've got a lot to do before Monday morning..” The General rounded his desk and offered his hand to Harm. “It's been a pleasure working with you Captain.”

Harm stood. “The pleasure has been all mine, sir.”

“Dismissed.”



Three days later
Mac's apartment


It was late when Harm arrived at Mac's door. He was there on a surprise visit.

After he'd talked to the General, he'd called Mac right away to tell the good news. Then he'd wrapped up his office, delegated his cases, and gone home. He'd started packing right away, and now his belongings were on their way to his new home..

“Harm?” Mac questioned when she saw who her visitor was. “I wasn't expecting you tonight.” She hugged him close.

“Surprise.” Harm said as he wrapped his arms around her. “Do you have room for a sailor?”

She released him and let him enter. “Welcome to your new home, Captain.”

Harm smiled proudly. “This is a completely new start for us Mac.” He patted Pavarotti's ear before focusing on Mac.

“I can't wait.” She said as she closed the door after him. “Congratulations on your promotion, I'm so proud of you.”

“Thanks again, and I have to say that I'm exited to get started. NATO is a big responsibility.” He dropped his bag on the floor. “And I'll be closer to you.” He put his arms around her. “Maybe we could do lunch or something.” He teased.

“You won't have time for lunch now that you've got this big new responsibility.” She gave him a pout. “I guess I'll have to make an apointment if I want to see you.”

“Oh, I don't know about that. I always have time for you.” He leaned in and kissed her softly. “Right now I have three days of leave, and I have no idea what to do to keep myself occupied..”

Mac kissed him deeply, ending the kiss with a little bite to his lower lip. “You don't have to worry about that, I'll keep you busy.”
