Subject: So who's hatching what, who's trying something new?

Well other than my numerous breeds of chickens which will get narrowed down to a handful that I will keep and breed, I am getting ready to set my first batch of button eggs for the year. I've thought about trying the California Valley Quail again, but I think I will skip it....no outlets here for selling them since it IS our state bird.

I have to hurry up and get the new henhouse/brooder house built so I can take down that horrible old eye sore that is still back there and being used.

I've started catching all the wild chickens in the neighborhood because it's been getting out of hand and soon hens will be hiding nests of eggs and hatching tons of chicks again.....it's tough to deal with because I am worried about the health of my birds since they always come into the yard and of course the feed bill because they hang around waiting for me to throw stuff to the Pilgrim Geese and Guineas.....not a good thing, I can't keep feeding the neighborhood. So far I have caught 6, but there were 18 in the trees that hang over my yard from along the neighbors driveway....so didn't make too much of a dent in them....but I will keep working at it.
