Subject: Wannabe single mom.

Have I mentioned how much I love geeking out about my Little Retards with you guys? Anyone else I talk to about it gives me the, "That's nice, have you completed any paintings lately?" shpiel.

So Sakura's seemed a little lonely since I took Harp away, even though her half-sister beat the stuffing out of her. I realized I hadn't seen her outside her shelter in a few days, so I was worried maybe she'd gotten sick from her injury.

I lifted her house and instead found a -huge- nest, like the hammercop of button nests, with seven eggs in it. My little cherry blossom bird took off and cowered at the other end of her tank, not willing to defend against my trespass.

This is something like a false pregnancy that rabbits and dogs have, and I had a fish do it too. Sakura's only nine weeks old and has never been exposed to a male, yet she went through all the preparations of hatching and rearing chicks like one of my veteran hens.

I'm going to have to watch her closely after I pair her with Briar, otherwise I'll suddenly be up to my elbows with more birds than I can name.
