I had NO IDEA it was your birthday today. It is so like you to keep this to yourself! You kept quiet about it on Saturday, SHAME ON YOU! (Thanks Sandy for bringing it to our attention!) You prefer to allow others to shine while you stay in the background, doing the hard labor.

I just want you to know how much you mean to me. When my daughter was an anxious 18 year old at the WVAFF pageant, she was blessed to have you as her hostess. And she still remembers your embrace as she walked off that stage after being called to the top 15 and being honored by her peers in 2001 as “Miss Congeniality”. So my first association with you was through my “little girl.” A few years later as a new director I was told to call the pageant “guru” Jenny Sullivan for tips on running a great pageant. And OHHHH BOY did I call you! And email you and bug the crap out of you! But you were so tolerant of a newcomer and through those communications a genuine friendship has grown. And on my part an admiration for your gentle strength, wit and your laughter. I love you Jenny and appreciate all you do and the commitment and passion you perform those obligations with. You are a lady to be greatly admired and West Virginia pageantry is blessed to have you. But above all I am privileged to call you my friend.

Happy Birthday my friend! May your day be as wonderful as you are beautiful! Because you deserve it! This is my birthday wish for you. I am not sure who the author is, but it fits you perfectly:

"My friend, if I could give you one thing, I would wish for you the ability to see yourself as others see you. Then you would realize what a truly special person you are."
