Subject: I feel like I can post my feelings here, so HERE GOES:

To all of my friends out there in “pageant land” that have helped me get through a very tough year, I want to thank you. First it was my Grandma that pretty much raised me getting placed in a nursing home last Dec. right before the trip to Charleston. Those of you that know me well are aware that I was not quite myself in Charleston. For all those extra hugs and winks and smiles I will be eternally grateful. Her dementia is getting worse and only the good Lord knows what the future holds for her, but he has allowed her to live 88 years thus far. I honestly feel she is tired of life on this Earth and just wants to be with her husband and two children that went on before her.

Now preparing for what may be one of the biggest days in my life, my only daughters wedding. On Dec. 16th ~I will watch my husband walk my “baby girl” down the isle. I know I have had a year and a half to prepare, but where has time gone?!?! Thank you to my friends who have put up with emailed photos of Mandi and Kennys house being built and cared enough to ask if I had bought my dress yet. (The answer is YES!)

And preparing for this pageant season has been horrendous. A few Mason~Dixon board members have tightened the belt (financially) and I was told my pageant needed to be “self sufficient”. In the past my Queen was given either no award money or $150.00-$200.00. I asked for at least $500.00 for my 2006 titleholder and was told it was not to be. But due to the generosity of friends and the community of Morgantown, my new Queen will receive $500.00 CASH- a $250.00 scholarship- her way paid to the WVAFF (that is paid for by the festival) and various gifts donated by area merchants.

But I digress! My thank you is to those of you that emailed me or called to ask how I was doing, listened to me tell these stories OVER & OVER again! Offered to help in anyway, or just was an amazing friend like you have been in the past. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! I do not need to name names. I love each and every one of you and will never forget these dark times (save for the wedding!)in my life when bright rays of sun (you) were able to light my path. Thank you.
