Subject: WV Strawberry Festival Teen & Queen Pageant Details

The West Virginia Strawberry Festival Queen & Teen Pageant is quickly approaching. Events begin Saturday morning, March 15th, with the announcement of the 2008 Hostess Princesses during the pageant orientation, beginning at 9:15 a.m., at the Buckhannon-Upshur High School auditorium. The 25 Queen contestants and 35 Teen contestants will then prepare for their competition, which include an Interview with the judges, Personal Sense of Style, and Evening Gown. Both the Personal Sense of Style and the Evening Gown competitions will take place in the BUHS auditorium, beginning at 7:30 p.m. with the doors opening to the public at 6:45 p.m.

Sunday, March 16th, the 2008 West Virginia Strawberry Festival Queen and 2008 West Virginia Strawberry Teen will be selected during the Final Competition. The show will feature all 60 contestants in an opening that will be followed by the announcement of the “Top 12” in each division. These 24 ladies will then compete again in the Personal Sense of Style competition followed by the Evening Gown competition. The field will then be narrowed to the Final 5 in each division who will participate in the on-stage interview. The 2008 West Virginia Strawberry Festival Queen and 2008 West Virginia Strawberry Teen will be chosen from these groups and announced at the conclusion of this two-hour production. Doors will open 12:45 p.m. and the pageant will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Sunday’s show will also feature the announcement of the annual West Virginia Strawberry Sweepstakes winner, the 2008 West Virginia Strawberry King-Elect, and the presentation of the 2008 Strawberry Spirit Award.

Tickets for both shows will be on sale following the orientation and at the door prior to both Saturday Preliminary Show and Sunday Final Show. The price of each ticket is $10.00 per show.

Upshur county native Randy Sanders returns as the producer and Master of Ceremonies of the two-day event. Randy is a well-known pageant personality celebrating his 30th year as the producer and emcee of this event.
