Subject: My best friend Tawney a beautiful Goldern Retriever

I put down my sweet 14 year old Golden Retriever yesterday. I feel so guilty and can't stop crying and thinking about her, I feel that I made the wrong decision. Yesterday moring I woke up at 5:30 am to Tawney gagging. I let her outside and when she came back in she was standing with her back hunched up and kept gagging but nothing was comming out, she was having a hard time standing and pooped on the fllor. I drove her to th ER vet clinic, they took x-rays and said her stomach was very dilated and might be twisted. The surgery would be over $5,000 dollars if she needed but they would have to scope her to see if that was the problem, that would be a couple of thousand and she might not be able to tolerate the anasthesia. They do not finance and needed the money up front. I had a couple thousand but not enough. I made the decision to put her to sleep. I feel so terrible like I should have done more. Tawney had a bad back, she was deaf now and was down to 45lbs.But I feel like she still had alot of good days where she seemed happy.I gave her rice and chicken the night before beacause she was not eating her dry food( I think it hurt her teeth to chew it}. But she ate the rice and chicken like she was starving, she loved it. But the next day is when this started the vet said she had to much air in her stomach from eating to fast. Can I have some opinions I feel so guilty I loved her so much. I feel like maybe I could have done more if her stomach was dot flipped(GDV, the vet called it.) I feel awful I never meant for any of this to happen. She has a brother here and when I go to work I think he is going to be so upset he has never not had her with him.I love you Tawney and I am so sorry, Love mommy
