Subject: Our Little Buddy...

What can I say about our Scooby? A 5 lb. Pomeranian who was all heart. On Easter he was taken to the animal hospital because of his symptoms- loss of appitite, bad breath, vomiting, sad look... He was diagnosed with renal failure. He also showed signs of some sort of "nerve" problem. Head tilt at times, and sometimes lack of feeling in his rear left paw. After 5 days on an IV, he was well enough to come home. And for about two weeks he was his old self again. Even with his sub-q treatments. He was eating his special food, taking his medicines, playing, walking, being himself again. On Mothers Day we noticed his right eye was bulging out a bit. I thought maybe I gave him his fluids too high on his neck and he got some behind his face or something. By the end of the day, he seemed to be completly blind! Walking into things and disoriented. We decided that if he was taking a turn for the worse, we wanted him at home. He seemed OK in all other ways. Eating, drinking, walking (a bit slower...). I arose Monday early to walk him and see that he was OK. He seemed to have regained some of his sight. Calling the vet, she recommended if by the end of the work day he still was not himself, to bring him in. I left work at 10:40 AM to come home, check on him, give him his medication and fluids. When I came home and stepped over the barrier we had placed in front of the steps, I found our dog had passed. I don't know what happened. We just had a blood test done on Friday, and the values were a bit up, but not dangerous... I am devistated. We all are. I am taking time off from work just because I'm crying so much. We miss our little buddy terribly. We did all we could. I don't think this had anything to do with the renal failure. At least he went at home, we didn't have to "make" a decision, and he was at peace. The neighbor downstairs said she didn't hear a peep between 7:30- 11:00 AM. I still feel terrible I left him alone for those few hours. If I had knew... We think he knew he had to leave us in this way. We will never forget Scooby. 5-29-92 to 5-12-03......

If tears could build a stairway,
And memories form a lane,
I'd run right up to heaven,
and bring you home again...
We love you Scooby!
