Karen, thank you so much for your kind message. I did go through what you are now going through - knowing that that decision will have to made eventually to let your baby go. I knew for an entire year that eventually I was going to have to have Mabel put to sleep. I know that sometimes you just look into those pretty blue eyes of your siamese and think how much you are going to miss her.

One thing that I can say about knowing beforehand that one day you will have to make that decision (rather than not knowing when your pet will be leaving you) is that it really makes you even closer to your pet. I found myself really appreciating every day with Mabel this past year - because I knew my time with her was limited. I am glad in a way that I knew because I loved her that much more and I gave her extra kisses and cuddles because I was very aware of the fact that she wasn't always going to be there. I was able to comprehend beforehand just how much I was going to miss her. I do really feel so alone w/out her here with me. She was my little buddy and she saw me through so many rough patches in my life. When I had no other shoulder to cry on I could always cry on hers.

Although I don't think it lessens the grief and I miss her even more than I thought I would - it certainly deepened the love and the bond I had with her. Our last year together was the deepest year I had spent with her.

I will say prayers for you and your little baby. Also I will give you my email address if you ever need someone to talk to about what you are going through. I know sometimes people don't "get" how you truly do experience a profound grief over the loss of a special pet.
