Subject: Waiting for a friend to pass

It's about 1 AM and here we sit waiting for the inevitable. Tiger, our 14 year old cat has kidney failure and he seems to know that it's time to go. So, we keep watch late into the hours of the morning waiting for that which we fear but knowing it's a matter of time. We've done all we can to make him comfortable and now I sit and wait, feeling helpless. I have decided to write this for any who care to read it to help occupy my mind. His breathing is getting shallow but he continues to hang on. I keep praying for an easy end for my dear companion and friend.
