read your message about your macaw, I have the exact same problem, but our bird is 19.
We adopted her about a year ago. She has no body feathers only head, wings and tail feathers. she is very agressive toward me and others that come near her cage. She loves my husband.
Last night she laid an egg. We were very very surprised.
We now need to find out what kind of a nest we can make her. she seems to be wanting to nest.
don't have any solution for you, I have spoke to a lot of people but no one seems to have the any answers about the picking and aggressive behaviour.
