I want to tell everyone about my sweet Alabaster (Ali), who was put to rest last Friday after a brave battle with cancer. She was my twenty-first birthday present, and for the last 13 years has been the best friend I could ever have. She was disgnosed with lymphoma in April and we did chemo for five months. They were 5 good months. Sadly she never really went into remission. We stopped all treatment about 6 weeks ago because it wasn't working anymore, and I promised Ali that I would not let her suffer. Last Friday she started having problems that would only get worse, so we took her to the vet so she wouldn't have to spend her last days in misery. She looked so beautiful when we put her in the ground - she looked like she was asleep. I was having a really crummy day at work today- you know how some days it seems like everyone lets you down or gives you a hard time - and I looked at her picture, that smiling face that loved me just as I was, that never complained. I just lost it. I miss her so much-I feel as if my heart will break any minute now. I wish I had her back, young and healthy again. I knew when I took her home as a puppy all those years ago that this day would come, but I didn't want to think about it then - we had so much time ahead of us. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you about my sweet girl :)
