Judy; Thanks for your reply. It has been 6 wks. since we lost Jenny. I still am sad and cry a bit, but less. Yesterday we adopted a dog from the pound. His name is Dillon. He is not Jenny, and never will be, but he is very special in his own way. Each person deals with the loss of a fur-child in a different way. My son had a new dog the day after he lost my Grand-dog. I couldn't do that. I had to mourn in my own way. I do believe in getting another pet, but the timing is different for everyone.
To remember my Jenny, I put some of her ashes under a "weeping mulberry" I planted in her memory. I put some ashes in a heart shaped locket and permanently sealed them there. I wear it close to my heart. I also am going to scatter some of her ashes in a field where she played, and plant some wildflowers there. I also made a donation to the animal shelter. These are things that will honor her and help me feel some closure.
I have her collar and bed tucked away and her dog tag is on my keychain. Maybe one of these things would be right for you to do.
Your other pets will be mourning Lady too. They know much more than we think. Give them time and be good to yourself. Consider rescuing a new dog when the time is right. I know we will meet Lady and Jenny again. God bless.....Lorraine
