Dear Richard,
Take comfort, my friend, in knowing that you're not alone...as you may have already found out in reading the testimonials here. I have made several entries regarding Sammy's passing on here, and hope you have read them already or will read them. I know full well how much you must miss Blacky, and I have to say this: I'm glad I'm not the only guy who refers to himself as Daddy when we talk to our pets. They are, after all, our kids.

Losing Sammy hurt me terribly, so I know what you're going through. I had my memorial service for him on September 3rd, was barely able to get through some of the readings without choking up terribly (especially when I read the poem I wrote for him and the "A Place For Us" essay), and was blessed beyond words to have the comfort and support of 5 of my close friends to do the memorial service with me. After the final song "The Leaving" was over, I felt so much better...that I could finally close my eyes, and visualize both Sammy, Angie, and all my furpals sitting at Rainbow Bridge, turning their thoughts to me, and purring their love to me. I feel so sorry for the cynics and pseudo-intellectuals of this world who are unable to or refuse to believe in the place called Rainbow Bridge...I mean, it's only logical to me that a loving Creator would create an afterlife for our furriends where they can romp and play together as buddies and wait for us to join them when our times come.

If you haven't already, please draw some inspiration from Consta Jenkins' stories of all her new feline arrivals to the Rainbow Bridge by going to the following site:

www.petloss.com/poems/poems.htm

Scroll down until you get to the box entitled "In Loving Memory: Heartwarming Rainbow Bridge Arrival Stories by Consta Jenkins." The stories are priceless, even if Consta is not a very good proof-reader. :o) They could pass as children's stories, but they are good for us "older kids," too. Just reading the stories of Eatbugs and all his furriends has made getting through Sammy's passing much easier.

I hope this has helped. You have my E mail address...feel free to write if you need to talk. Joni and Enya send you purrs, head-butts and ear licks.

Peace/Love,

Doug
