Hey Kelly,
Those memories, as Pat and Steve say in their letters, stay with us a long time. As you may have read in my entries about Sammy, I will always regret not being with him when his moment of transition came...and when I think of him, I always pray that God gave him a beautiful passage to the Rainbow Bridge...that all my past furpals were there to greet him when he arrived at the gate, and that Angie trotted up to him, smiling, saying, "No, goofy, we don't fight up here. We're furriends now. Let me show you around."

Like you, I named Angie after a music figure--sort of. I had a friend who'd named her white cat Bianca, after Mick Jagger's wife...so I told her I'd name mine Angie, after David Bowie's wife. Angie was a sweet little cat, too, and I had the privilege of raising her from kittenhood to old age...she had a long March of Days with me and I'm so glad I was with her at the end, as hard as it was to let her go. But, to see the euthanasia process for the first time was something I had to do...and it was reassuring to see, first-hand, that it truly was a swift and painless way to release our little friends into their afterlife. And I know now, as sure as the sun rises and sets, that Angie, Sammy, and all my furpals will be there to mob me, en masse, when I find myself in the next world. I can only imagine what a rush that's going to be, having roughly 10-12 cats crawling all over me at once, purring and wanting to be petted. What better way to enter Heaven? :o)

Joni & Enya (named after my 2 favorite female singers) are providing me with more love than I know how to deal with now, and I'm so thankful for that. Sammy's memory tears at my heart frequently, but I know he is free from his renal failure (likewise with Angie) and is giving piggy-back rides to all the "peepers" at the Rainbow Bridge, and that he and Angie are swapping war stories about what fun (<--subjective term there) it was being raised by yours truly.

I hope this has helped, and that, if you haven't already, you will consider letting another little Tribble into your life. With a tip of my hat to all other pets in this world, there is nothing like the company of a cat to fill the lonely hours, cuddle up and purr with you when you need some attention, and always keep you on your toes with their antics. Take care of yourself and know that you're in good company here.

Peace/Love,

Doug
