Or maybe he chose to leave because he didn't want to tour? Somebody said music was a hobby for him. Another comment on the internet said they didn't like his solo part on Kind of a Drag. But the song was a big hit, so it couldn't have been that bad.

May 2013,
My name is Dennis Miccolis. I am the original keyboardist of "The Buckinghams". I'm really proud to have been a part of the original band composed of Dennis, Carl, Jon Jon, and later Nick. We started off doing local dances, and with landing weekly spots on WGN's "All Time Hits" show, our producer Dan Bellock took us into Chess studio where we recorded "Kind of a Drag". I had to leave the band due to my draft status and wanting to go back to school. So I gave my notice and was replace be a terrific musician/vocalist Marty Grebb. I have been performing with my band with music as a hobby ever since. I retired as a Forensic for the Nevada Dept. of Prisons in 1999, and again as Security Manager for Casino Arizona in Scottsdale AZ in 12/2012. I currently live with my wife Cathy in Phoenix and perform at private functions with my band. Carl and Nick have carried on the bands name and continue to bring the best of "the Buckinghams" wherever they perform.
Denny Miccolis
