she had her favorites. I never won a pageant but I kept placing first in interview AND swimsuit but somehow kept falling short in evening wear. This particular coach was good with interview but was horrible with the overall look. She would make mistakes with telling me what I should wear and then later say things like, "Oh I thought that would look better on stage, we'll try something else next time". Um, I was very pissed because I was not paying her to learn from trial and error. I could have done that on my own for FREE! Oddly enough though, her "favorites" would always win. So, I don't know if she was intentionally sabotaging me or what. Either way, I left her in the dust and never looked back. I plan on starting to compete again and obviously will be using a different coach.

Also, another girl I know had the same problem with that same coach. She had minimal success or no success but as soon as she changed coaches...guess what? Yep, she started WINNING.

It is very important to make sure you have a very good coach and as you mentioned, this can be a friend whose experienced in pageantry.

But some coaches are good and worth the amount you pay. Interview them, you cannot expect them to give you their time, knowledge, and energy for free! There is a coach in my area that only works with one woman per pageant and has a 95% rate in winners and 100% in top 5. Those are better odds and I feel very supported and trust her with everything!Would mention her but there are AWFUL people that like to bash her success!10/30/13 Wed
