I feel that if our preschools would use the synthetic phonic program when introducing the letters to children, tutors would not be needed. For the children learn the letters in the ABC order and both Long and Short vowel sounds are introduced together. Example: [when presenting the "t" sound pictures of a truck is used,"g" grapes] instead of a clear letter sound]. This does not allow the children to receive a good understanding of one sound before combinations are added and this confusion continues into Kindergarten and beyond.
