I found that when the interective whiteboard was introduced into the Yr1/2 class that i was a teaching assistant in, the children lost a lot of their enthusiasm and interest in what the teacher had to say and became totally fixed on what was happening next on the screen. Even the keenest of pupils tuned out of the teaching that was going on and were only interested in what was on the screen. Interactive whiteboards are a great recsource especially when pupils are in there GCSE years but I still trhink the old fashioned whiteboard and pen is better for younger puipils learning the basic literacy and numeracy skills.
