 I have also photocopied my student's white board but for a slightly different reason. The student I was working with was much more enthusiastic to write with a white board than with paper and pen/pencil. I decided that a battle over writing materials was definetly not worth having so let her use the white board and then photocopied it to keep a record of her work and progress. I think she enjoyed the novelty of the white board but it is also a different feel to using paper and easy for her to self correct without having to find and manipulate an eraser.
