Hi Leslie
I have suddenly realised that my 6 year old son is definately off track in terms of his reading and writing. He was sent home with a 'spelling test' which included words: he, she, was, we, me, no, go, play, away and day. After 4 sessions over the weekend of look cover write check he is still only able to write or read one or two of these words. I feel as a parent although he is only six he is already struggling and loosing confidence he also says he is not 'inteligent'. Verbally and in other areas he is very intelligent I feel he has a lot more potential to give.
Both his parents are educated and supportive, and all we want is for him to reach his maximum potiential. School sends him home with an over pitched book which I have to read to him and he will not even attempt to read it himself. I take him to the library but at the moment he is not interested.
Please can you or anyone elese advise and help.
