I had the course textbook before I started this course. I used it during the summer to tutor a child who was moving up to year two. He didn’t know letter names or sounds, maybe two or three. He had very little vocabulary and couldn’t speak good English.
First, I aimed to foster his speaking and listening.
Next, I taught him phonic work by using the textbook.
I spent around 25 hours with him. Although I couldn’t finish teaching him all the sounds, his achievement was recognizable. He was able to memorize the phonemes he had learned during that period, read and spell CVC words, and short sentences. He mother was impressed with the result. That’s why I wanted to do this successful course.
