Having just completed assignment 2, I included the following text which, although I naturally use every day, it wasn't until I wrote it down and proof read my work before I submitted it, that I realised how important my actions are. It read as follows:
Techniques to Encourage feelings of success.
When checking and marking the children’s finished work, praise should always be given for a correct answer and encouragement and further explanation should be given if the answer isn’t quite right. A ‘cross’ (x) should never be shown against an incorrect answer. The child must be given the opportunity to correct the answer and submit the amended worksheet for a ‘tick’.
(When I am working with the children in a group, I always make it clear to them that their answers are never ‘wrong’ when learning sounds, they are just not ‘quite right’. This results in a maximum mark of 10/10 and more confident encouraged and willing students).
