 Hi all,
I want share the idea of using the sound button flash cards to teach segmenting and blending of sounds.A sound button flash card is a card with a word written on it,for example the word 'champ' can be written as
ch. a. m. p.

you have a sound button(like little bullet points) under the letters,the first consonant digraph 'ch' has one button to show that 'c' and 'h' are sound friends and make a single sound together.
You can introduce different words with big flash cards to your class,touch the button under the letter and say the sound.Then try to blend it.Children can then come to you and press the sound button themselves.For the table activity you can have sound button cards for children,they can work in pairs and ask their partner to sound out the words.Children enjoy the idea of pressing the sound button to make the sound of letters.You can also turn into a phonic game.
