This activity focuses on identifying the beginning sounds of a word. I would choose a worksheet based activity, where there will be nine pictures inside individual boxes. Under each picture the word for the picture will be typed out with the missing beginning sound. For example, I will have a picture of a dog in a box, and underneath the picture, it will appear as such; __og. So the child will have to look at the picture and sound out the word, to identify the beginning sound which then has to be written down by that child. This activity can be done in the form of a positive worksheet, where the child is given a chance to amend the mistakes which would ultimately encourage feelings of success. This could also be followed by rewards such as public praise or stickers.
