End Of An Era -- Bob Hambrick, 07:41:54 01/26/08 Sat [3]
As the list of Buddies grow on our Memorial Page, I get very nostalgic about those days 50 plus years ago in Lake Charles and at Bunker Hill when we were in our prime and determined to make America the greatest country in the world.
None of our Buddies of the 68th could invision a time when we would ever allow the horrendous changes that we see happening to America today. No one would have ever dreamed in their worst nightmare that our laws wouldn't allow prayer in schools.
It would have been inconceivable that unborn babies would be legally murdered with abortion on demand.
We served our country along side any number of buddies of different nationalties, many of them still in the process of becoming American citizens. One such Buddy was Hank Bartlett, a Phillipino national, who along with being one of my lifelong friends is sadly listed on the Memorial Page.
I had the privilige of accompanying Hank on a trip from Bunker Hill to Chicago in 1957 to finalize his naturalization process, and he became an American citizen.
Today we have immigrants by the millions coming into this country illegally, with no intrest in becomming citizens, but to flood the job market with cheap labor, and to live off social programs designed for legal taxpayers.
All this nonsense is in violation of our immigration laws, yet is sanctioned by almost every Polition in Washington.
We now find our country involved in probably what will be the last war of our lifetime. The war with Islamic Muslams, cannot be won without our country coming together and becomming united in the effort. This is highly unlikely since our washington politicians are so intent on a power grab that the are willing to sacrifice the security of our country to gain a political advantage.
We are now presented with a list of presidential candidates, both Democrat and Republican, none of which would make a pimple on a presidents Ass. No Matter which of these candidates is elected none of our nations ills will be addressed and it looks like Americas best days are behind us.
If there was ever a group of patriotic Americans who could turn America around I am convinced it would be my buddies of the 68th and their families.Heres my challenge.
After you read this article, write down your ideas for what we need to do to save America from the political power grab in Washington and post your article.
If you feel that my article is a lot of Bull, and that the Washington politicians have the answers, then by all means post it on the Forum.
The Old Redneck Bob Hambrick

Big Gas Bird kidnaped -- Jim Wood, 11:29:11 09/02/07 Sun [3]
Of all my assignments in the Air Force, my six years in the 68th are the most remembered. Because of our many deployments to Goose Bay the wives created a stuffed goose as a squadron mascot. We named it our "Big Gas Bird". On one of our trips to Goose, I think it was December of 1956 another unit, (either the 44th ARS or the 301st BS, I don't recall which) stole the bird and redeployed to Lake Charles with it. Upon discovering that the Big Gas Bird had gone missing, our leaders reported the theft to headquarters and a B-47 was launched from Lake Charles to return it to Goose Bay for the remainder of our TDY. Those were good days.

Pictures and History of your Career in the Service Ect. -- Carl T Harland, 10:43:05 03/13/07 Tue [1]
I just got to review the Web Page and still after 2 years I see that their are approx. 80 names that are still not finished, also The Wifes Page only have 4 listed, some of the pages maybe, that way due to Sandra Dougless working on it in her spare time since she dose this all day long at her job. I have gotten several Emails about this and have my hands tied because of the slow responce. Awhile back Sandra had her Computer go bad and she had to buy a new one.several of yall had sent what I had asked for and I had sent it to her and she may had lost it. Check out the Web and let me know, I lost everything I had saved awhile back to a virus that hit me I know that if you will take the time you can find these things we are asking for I don't think that some know how hard it is to keep this thing going we need all the help we can get we aren't youngins either thanks Carl Harland

- Is the 68th dead ? -- Ed Epps (Don't Know), 18:23:58 11/14/06 Tue [2]
I looked at this message board and realized no one had posted a message this year, and I think that's awful. A lot of things have happened this year, some have had to deal with sickness, some death in their family and maybe sadness brought on by other things. We all feel the pain when one of our buddies suffer. I am sure lot's of things have happened in the 68th family that I am not aware of this year, and that's why I am on here tonight, I want to hear from you, what's going on etc. Call me nosey old Ed or what ever suits your fancy I don't care I still want to hear from you all. The reunion in August was great and seemly everyone enjoyed it. I just hated to see it end. Dorothy and I are looking forward to the next one, let's not let a year pass without a reunion! Up date on Kenneth Presnell,he is lot's better after a serious bout with cancer. Some people have worked hard to get us the oppurtunity to visit our friends once again and I think we should show our appreciation by using what has been made available to us. People like Hambrick,Harland,Highsmith, our web master Sandy(who by the way is my daughter)and others have spent many hours putting these things together.Let's show our interest in the 68th by staying in touch with each other. We hope to see some of you soon. Thank's for positive responses about the reunion pictures we sent. Ed&Dorothy

A transplanted Tennessan in Mississippi -- Carl T. Harland, 16:29:40 12/19/05 Mon [1]
Well I guess I will see if I can add to the messages. I have had a few changes to my life and they look pretty good, will tell you about these when we see each other. Been reading several of the comments that have been put on the new Forum. Don't know if you have heard about Numbers USA' it's a place where you can send Faxes to your Representives in Washington and after reading Bobs report from the Gazett here is a little up date, I got an Email from the Numbers USA sight and they said that all the faxes that had been sent seemed to help out our Reps actions and if the house approves the changes to the Bills that were going in about the borders and amount of Immigrants that are being let in to this country right now that if it passes the house and the president signs it there should be guite a drop in the number by 2006. check out this Numbers USA.COM and join in on the sending Faxes as they say the Numbers count, Bob Hambrick sent the Web Address to me sometimes back and Boy? I sure have enjoyed it.

- Do You Remember ? -- Bob Hambrick, 04:56:47 12/11/05 Sun [1]
Do you remember how you enjoyed your first meal at Lake Charles after returning from a TDY from the Goose?
Do you remember the 3 day nonstop spark plug change that we pulled while on alert at the Goose ?
Do you remember the antics of Don Eason and Leroy Whetstone that seemed to make life a little more bearable for all the guys during the tough times ?
Do you remember Sgt Eddie Donak, who was always there for any of the guys who needed a helping hand ?
Do you remember Sgt. Carlton Roberts who was probably the most loved and respected man to ever wear the 68th patch ?
Do you remember Sgt. Phillip Runels who i am proud to say was my Boss for 4 years on the Post Flight Team
Do you remember Captain Hardin and his infamous Handle Bar Moustache ?
Do you remember Lt." Hot Rod " Stewart whose ambition was to do a barrell roll in a 97 ?
Do you remember the Scrounge Lounge in Lake Charles ?
Do you remember how the 68th was blessed to be stationed at Lake Charles and Bunker Hill where the local folks were among the finest people on earth ?
Do you remember the biggest mistake the Air Force ever made was in 1959 when the 68th was busted up ?
While it has been over a half century since the 68th first began its short decade as the best refueling squadron in the Air Force, and its members are now all senior citizens the brotherhood bond that we all shared is still live and well.
It seems that the 68th has always faced one crisis after another like the TDYs to the coldest place on earth to natural disasters like Hurricane Audrey in 57 and always had the resolve to come back even stronger.
Now, 50 years later, another crisis has stood in our way. Our long sought after reunion has been side tracked by another Hurricane, but the old " Git er Done" resolve of the 68th is still there and we will have our reunion in March of 06.
HOW ABOUT SHARING YOUR MEMORIES

- Friends of the 68th -- All of US friends friends of the 68th, 19:06:43 11/22/05 Tue [1]
You know if it hadn't been for people like Frank Moffett, Red Pressnell Wyantt Cannon and so many other guys and the ones that has departed we wouldn't be thinking of trying to relieve those days of gone by that was yesterday the way I rember them. One day my son and I decided to take our Hogs out for a ride and I was reaily having a good time listing to my bike reaily sounding off in the mountains and leaning in an out of the curives and the next thing I remembering was my son leaning over my bed and saying Dad do you remember these guys Bob Hambrick, Harland, Highsmith and Moffett? Knowing these names they came back like yesterday. I said sure I do and what am I doing in this bed and what are all this stuff that's all over my legs and where am I?Boy did I get a surprise when he told me I had wreck my bike going in a curve and mashed me all over a guard rail and then kicked me over a mountain and he said you died on me from all that banging around that Harley was doing to you but my traing that I had with the EMT service with the Fire Dept I got you breathing again and they air flighted you to W.Va. Univeristy and here you are and I let Bob Hambrick know that I didn't think you could make the Reunion this year. Now that is back like some of the days of the Old 68th Sqd. and the guys having things happing to them. Red Eakers was fire guard while the crew started the engines when we were leavig Warren Robins AFB and I gave the signal to pull the chocks Davis the engineer decided to start the prop check and blew Davis into the wheel well door and the landing gear. But Davis being the guy he was put the chocks in the back door and got on board the plane so I disconned the hesd set and went around to the back door and got on but I couldn't find Red so I started to rull up the rear door and something touched me and I look around and there was a bloody face looking at me and it scared me so bad I dropped the door back down and I thought it tore it off and I closed it and locked it and I went up stairs and Capt. Beaucond was patching Reds head up from where he got blew into the landing gear. Now I know what it's like when you come to your self after something like that happens. But that was just another day in the 68th. like Red Pressnell and a elect. were checking the drop tank curcit and I had just came out the front door and this big bang goes off and I looked around and Pressnells drop tanks were laying on the ground boy I just knew they were going to blow up but by the grace of God nothing happend except he had to put on a new set. Well Sandy look what you all have put togeither for us to tell on each other. But it sure helps to bring back old times again. I was looking foward to hearing all the old tales and new ones to. Like Bob and Epps reworking his camper and the visit Bob made out to see Maynard Vance and Henry Bartlett getting hurt at home falling off a letter no less. So now I know I'm not the only one having problems, but I got another chance to let God rule my life and quit acting like a 71 year old great, great grandpaw and just be one. Well guys it's your turn turn to tell us on your self and let us all hear from you.Billy Hutchinson tenbender34@yahoo.com from 40250 Gun Club Rd. Woodsfield, Ohio 43793 Ph. 740-472-0749

- Special Thanks -- Ed Epps, 17:28:52 11/07/05 Mon [3]
I just want to thank Hambrick, Harland, and Highsmith who were willing to stick with this effort until we had something workable to locate our friends. I have called several of the guys and have recieved some calls and have appreciated them very much.Kenneth Presnell and I have had weekend visits at each others homes in the last year, we were talking about this yesterday and realize the reason we can visit now is because of the efforts of thes guys. Also I want to thank Sandie our Webmaster for what she has done even if she is my daughter. One thing I can assure you of it would have been a sad sight if her dad had did it. So mine and Dorothy's thanks to all of you. Ed & Dorothy

Bob and politics -- Bob Hambrick, 03:39:09 11/07/05 Mon [1]
Bob I like what you are doing to Washington and our so called know it all's. Now I guess our S.S. CHECKS WILL GET SMALLER SO THEY CAN ADD TO THE MILLIONS THEY HAVE ALL READY TAKEN FROM THE PEOPLE that doesn't have all this money they say we've got. But just wait I might run and I'd be to dumb to let them get away with this stuff they are doing and tell on them all. Well I thought they were going to do something about our boarders and stop all these wet backs from coming over here but I guess when you have them in your family so close as the Brush Piles do you know who's boss because they don't have enough guts to amit their kind has problems with drugs and they become governors and the likes well I guess I have said my share so I'll shut up But keep up the good work. - The Floodgates are open Again -- Bob Hambrick, 19:39:02 11/06/05 Sun [1]
I just finishad reading an article in the Ark. Democrat Gazette that should be alarming to everyone. It seems that our politicians in Washington, just can't seem to get anything right. After 911 all educational Visas were cancelled for Saudi nationals and most other mid east countries. As everyone knows, most of the Muslims who carried out the devastation of the Twin Towers were Saudi Arabians. This caused a huge shortfall in foreign Student enrollment In our colleges and universities.
Since foriegn student tuition along with big football programs are the big money makers for our colleges, appearantly our schools of higher learning have put the pressure on the politicians and the floodgates are open again. Saudi students are now being allowed to enroll again, and student visas are being issued by the tens of thousands.
With the Wetbacks being welcomed to our country to ruin us economically, and the Muslims being welcomed who want to see us all killed, our government sure has this country in a hell of a mess.
