Do you remember how you enjoyed your first meal at Lake Charles after returning from a TDY from the Goose?
Do you remember the 3 day nonstop spark plug change that we pulled while on alert at the Goose ?
Do you remember the antics of Don Eason and Leroy Whetstone that seemed to make life a little more bearable for all the guys during the tough times ?
Do you remember Sgt Eddie Donak, who was always there for any of the guys who needed a helping hand ?
Do you remember Sgt. Carlton Roberts who was probably the most loved and respected man to ever wear the 68th patch ?
Do you remember Sgt. Phillip Runels who i am proud to say was my Boss for 4 years on the Post Flight Team
Do you remember Captain Hardin and his infamous Handle Bar Moustache ?
Do you remember Lt." Hot Rod " Stewart whose ambition was to do a barrell roll in a 97 ?
Do you remember the Scrounge Lounge in Lake Charles ?
Do you remember how the 68th was blessed to be stationed at Lake Charles and Bunker Hill where the local folks were among the finest people on earth ?
Do you remember the biggest mistake the Air Force ever made was in 1959 when the 68th was busted up ?
While it has been over a half century since the 68th first began its short decade as the best refueling squadron in the Air Force, and its members are now all senior citizens the brotherhood bond that we all shared is still live and well.
It seems that the 68th has always faced one crisis after another like the TDYs to the coldest place on earth to natural disasters like Hurricane Audrey in 57 and always had the resolve to come back even stronger.
Now, 50 years later, another crisis has stood in our way. Our long sought after reunion has been side tracked by another Hurricane, but the old " Git er Done" resolve of the 68th is still there and we will have our reunion in March of 06.
