Subject: Martell's from Canada..Indian connection?

 My mother said my great grandfather was part Indian so I decided I needed proof. His features would lead one to believe this is true but again I need proof. His mother's name was Ida Martell who was born in Wisconsin but her parents names are (I think) E. Martell and Rillie Richmond both of French Canada. It has been told to me that perhaps Rillie (Marilla?) was the Indian who married a Frenchmen, E. Martell....any help or pointing me in a direction would be appreciated.
