I am still trying to research more info on my ancestor David Bates/Baits b 1735 Haddam CT d Randolph 1787 Randolph, VT. His Wife was listed as "Unknown" and could possibly be of Native American Heritage of the Iroquious Tribe of the Region.

My Great Grandmother Mary Ann Baits of IL, kept telling her family that there was Native American Ancestory in the Baits/Bates Family which link's back to the Unknown Wife of David Baits. I believe that the Family history on this Baits/Bates Family has not searched far enough to find more info on this Unknown Wife to verify that she was a Native American. Or they have left out this informantion due to personal reasons? Even in parts of my own Family research, there is a Big Mystery concerning this Ancesteral link that all the details were kept somewhat secret for some reason?

The only problem I have come across is that there are acouple other David Bates or David Baits that lived in Vermont during the later 1780's. But I'm unable yet, to Find anymore Records, Church or Cementary records to find where he and his Wife was burried.

If anyone who has done some research in the Randolph, VT area, I would appreciate any info that you could share if you came across this Family.

Thanks, Peggy
