I am looking for some information on Ohio Tribes. I was given a letter written by my grandmother laying out the names of relatives and from what she writes, my great,great grandmother was born on an Ohio reservation. I have searched and searched with the information she writes but can't find anything to validate her information. Can anyone help? What I have is her name was Elizabeth (Little Flower)Swihart (or something close to that spelling)born on the Black Hawke Reservation (yes, I am aware the Black Hawk was an Indian, not a tribe) in Wayson, Ohio. Her father (no name given) was a tribal leader and she had brothers by the names of Sam and Joe who still lived on the reservation (the letter was written in 1962) and a sister who died when she was 19 years old her name was Amelia. Elizabeth at some point had a daughter by the name of Florence Arnold who in turn had a daughter by the name of Ruth Lange who was my grandmother. By this time the family had moved to Wisconsin. If anyone knows anything about this tribe (also known as the "White Earth People" I would appreciate anything that you could tell me. Thank you.
