Hello not sure if this right place to ask, but I belong to a Traditional Muzzleloaders club/ 17th,18th,19th century reenactment. Now I am a card carrying member of the Sault Saint Marie tribe of Chippewa Indians. But also have German blood. I have been researching the Metis for awhile now and trying to find pics and info on clothing/traditions/weapons/ and locations for Metis people's between 1820's and 1830's. One main question is would a Metis fur trader/trapper have carried a Hawken muzzleloading rifle. Any help or direction any one could point me would be greatly appreciated!
