Its been said that my grandmother CATARINA HERRERA b. 1901 is of Indian Descend, she married NICOLAS LUJAN b. March 26, 1896 in Coyote, Rio Arriba, New Mexico. They both married possibly 1918/1919 and are from Coyote, Rio Arriba, New Mexico. Grandmother's parents were ANTONIO HERRERA b. 1873 married SILVANA GARCIA b. 1881, 1910 and 1920 Census of Coyote, Rio Arriba, New Mexico shows them in their families. Grandfather's parents were JOSE ONESIMO LUJAN b. 1866 married MARIA PAULA ARCHULETA b. 1877 both married on July 9, 1893. JOSE ONESIMO LUJAN's parent was MARIA DE JESUS LUJAN (don't have birth date) and MARIA PAULA ARCHULETA's parents were JESUS MARIA ARCHULETA (no birth date)married MARIA PORFIRIA TRUJILLO (no birth date) all from COYOTE, RIO ARRIBA, NEW MEXICO. ALL THE ABOVE MENTIONED NAMES ARE DECEASED. The Church of SANTO TOMAS, ABIQUIU has records of baptismals and marriages of these families.
My question is what Indian blood line does CATARINA HERRERA is from and what Indian Rolls are available for the tribes in this area of COYOTE, RIO ARRIBA NEW MEXICO? Are their names on any Indian Rolls in this area? ANY INFORMATION WILL BE APPRECIATED. I would like to correspond with anyone having links with these families. I have contacted JACARILLA APACHE INDIAN TRIBE, they have no records of these families' names. What county records would show these families as having Indian bloodlines or registered as Indian descend??? Could they have Indian Pueblo roots in Santa Clara County??? Please email me at jcl1949@msn.com THANKS, JC LUJAN
