We all dislike the Jack format because it displaced WCBS-FM on 101.1 FM. For that reason, I never listened to that version of Jack. However, the Jack stations and clones across the US and Canada are all different. People on the NYRMB criticized the NYC Jack because it played too much hard rock from the 1980s. Nobody liked Howard Cogan's snarky comments. The Jack format is supposed to play music from several genres of music and may appeal to some listeners. I have sampled some of the Jack stations. The one from Indianapolis was not too bad and did not have Cogan's voice. Jack stations have respectable ratings in some markets.
