That was one of the many things that got the people who had listened to the station for a long time very angry.
That in your face obnoxious attitude which was part of the Jack format was one of the things that helped kill it.

I can't prove it but I believe a lot went on off the air during the past two years to oppose Jack. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the former listeners went to advertisers and convinced them not to buy time while Jack continued on 101.1 but I could never prove that to be true.

Remember in the end the bottom line decreased from $30 million to $16 million and that loss of money had to be a result of something going on off the air.

The audience that listens to CBS-FM is one of the most loyal groups in New York in my opinion and you don't get these people mad if you want to survive in the long run because they will make their feelings known.
