My sentiments exactly. I am 32 years old and grew up on the music of the fifties and sixties listening to CBS-FM in the late '80s-mid '90s. That is the CBS-FM I remember. Yes, they did play then-current music; does anyone remember on Wednesday nights when Cousin Brucie had his "Yesterday/Today Top 15 Countdown", where he would play the top 15 records of the past and the then-current year each week? I do. They even had a promo jingle "101.1 Yesterday--drumroll--101.1 Today". They played '70s music too. I can still remember when they played songs like "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" by Rod Stewart and "Jackie Blue" by Ozark Mountain Daredevils on a Don K. Reed late night and "Heart Of Glass" by Blondie on a Max Kinkel overnight. This was back around 1988.

I simply cannot except the lame excuse that fifties and sixties music doesn't have a chance because of advertisers. That's what caused CBS-FM to become JACK two years ago. Then how do you explain Johnny Z's "Rock And Roll Revival Show" on WFAS in Westchester, which has been playing from 7-11 pm on Sunday nights for almost five years. It has solid advertising support from local businesses and is the closest thing to the Doo Wop Shop that we can get on NYC metro-area radio.

I am not getting orgasmic over CBS-FM's return. I'll save that for when (and/or if) Bobby Jay and Don K. Reed return along with their specialty programming (Soul Of The City and The Doo Wop Shop respectively).
