Any greif counselor will tell you, getting a chance to say goodbye DOES make a difference. A 33 year old radio station becomes a "friend", always there ... good weather, bad weather, good times, tragic times.

To lose a dear friend like that IS traumatic. To have it killed before your eyes in a maniacal way by a laughing, snide, "Jack in The Box" makes it seem like a senseless killing, done by a deranged killer, who killed it in front of you just because he felt like it.

Change your format if you want. Its your radio station. But to kill it in a maniacal, laughing manner, as if your listeners of 33 years didn't mean a damn thing to you, in a manner which left those of us listening to the station in disbelief thinking that some hooligans had broken into the transmitter room, or worse, some pirate radio station was transmitting on the frequency, was nothing more than a stunning slap in the face followed by a big wad of flemmy spit onto our astonished faces.

THAT, my friend, is why we Loyal Listeners are STILL hurt almost a year later. We were faithfull to the end even as they hired cheaper, less talented DJs, and cut the playlist down to nothing, and THEN we were humiliated, stunned, and thrown out like contaminated medical waste.

And Jack? This is the format they were afraid someone else would steal? Dumbasses. All of them. All of their NYC FMs are rotting. You get what You Deserve. They all have kept their jobs ONLY because CBS TV is doing well with the CSI franchise. When the public gets tired of CSI 7 nights a week, they'll be selling pretzels.
