Jeff: Philly has classical at WRTI. In fact, the huge gripe when the station flipped in (?) 1997 to half-jazz/half-classical was that the classical portion of the broadcast day covered both drive times. But just as they consistently played jazz for forty years, WRTI has worked this newest, incongruous balance for a decade with consistency and have lots of listeners to both formats.
We get three of the WRTI relays/translators up here (we're 1560 feet up). It'd be cool to hear jazz at 1PM, but I sorta like both forms.

The ironic point is: WRTI assumed responsibility for the classical load from WFLN -- which ten years ago dumped classical in favor of 'Max', an 80's-rooted music format that did nothing but tank for the better part of ten years.
