It seems that many of the oldies stations today, including those owned by CBS Radio and Clear Channel, have been mindset in their playlists of playing 1960's-1970's oldies in the last five years or so. Just too stagnant and predictable that these programmers have been doing now with their musical selection, most likely cut to a standard 300-song playlist, everytime I listen to the well known FM stations online.

Back during my visits in the mid-1990's, WOGL in Philadelphia was great in playing a great chunk of pre-1964 hits, and some really obscure Motown songs during the weekday midday shifts with Mike St. John and Hy Lit I have never heard on the regular rotation even on WCBS-FM. In Pittsburgh, WWSW-FM ("3-W-S") played songs mostly from the 1960's during my visits there 1993-96, with some pre-1950's here and there but no post-1973 songs on the playlist at that time.

Yes, WMTR in Morristown, NJ is sticking with the 1950's and 1960's, as the former WWKB in Buffalo was like that do before that station's format flip. As for WLNG in the Hamptons heard online, I can vouch that the musical playlist is long, wide and deep, including those hard core (like real doo-wop) songs from 1950's. Maybe that's the reason why WLNG is the top-rated station in that particular market way out there at the end of Long Island.
