Because radio and television are different beasts and people pay attention to them in different ways.

Regarding '60s music on commercials -- in some cases, these are songs that have enjoyed a second life because of inclusion in a movie. In some cases, they're just a pleasant sound that fits the mood they're trying to establish without necessarily counting on people having a memory of the song.

There are a lot of of '80s and '90s songs in commercials, too, but those obviously wouldn't stand out to you the way a familiar '60s song would.
