An excellent post. I will forgive you but forgot Bobby Jay and Mickey Dolenz. There have been many other great DJ's who left the station before the change like Dan Ingram, Ron Lundy, Ed Baer, Dan Daniel and from the early days of CBS-FM like Dick Heatherton and Jack Spector and his Saturday Night Sock Hop who bought us happiness. M favorite special event at CBS-FM was the radio greats weekend. I will never forget how I found out about the format change. I got home that Friday Night and I turned on the 10 O'clock news on channel 11 and the format change was the headline story and Cousin Brucie was being interviewed. I was shocked. Like you I have survived. I do not have sattelite radio as of yet but I have found happiness in other ways. Like you I listen to Saturday Night Oldies every week and I love it. I have found happiness listening to WLNG on line which is better than CBS-FM was in its last few years. I listen to a lot of internet radio but I do not listen to much regular radio because radio in NY is the worst. I like other kinds of music as well like Jazz and blues and I listen to it on my IPOD which has over 7000 songs many of them oldies. I also have many CBS-FM airchecks to remember the station by. Yes, your father was right, a large door closed and many smaller doors opened.
