I had been playing a tennis match that afternoon/evening. When I turned the ignition on in my car, I began hearing some bizarre music on the radio. I thought maybe I had changed the station somehow or that WCBS was playing a future gold of doing a special feature. As I pulled into my driveway, my son ran toward my car and told me to hurry inside - I needed to watch the news which would be carrying a story about my station flipping.

Let me tell you, my teenagers and I were in mourning. My daughter cried all night and the next day she had to take an SAT History subject test (for college entrance). She was angry that morning and I thought this might have affected her during the test, but she came out of the testing area with a smug attitude --- she knew at least 5 answers to questions (regarding popular culture) on the test due to her listening to WCBS throughout the years!
