Wow. All of you bring back great memories when you post about OR FM.

Back in 1967 when Drake came in and made the changes in November of that year, I was opposed to what he was doing. I liked the free-form rock of 98.7.

As time went on and I grew to understand the business, I really grew to respect Bill Drake. I listened to WRKO when I visited Boston or could hear them at night in Connecticut and of course CKLW.

I think Drake knew what he was doing and he programmed differently for different markets. In New York, it was a lot of oldies on OR FM. In Detroit, it was Motown on CKLW.

One jock who has not been mentioned was Jim O'brien who worked at WFIL and OR FM among other places. Unfortunately he died in 1983 in an accident while sky diving.

Thanks for bringing back the great Drake intros and of course That's what's happening today (insert date) and then a song from the same date in a previous year.

OR FM and 97DJ do not get the credit they deserve in the history of radio in the New York area in my opinion.

I also agree about Bwana Johnny. Great jock. I miss him.
