A station with a tight playlist is programmed to appeal to the casual listener. The management thinks that if a listener hears a totally unfamiliar song, he/she will tune out. There are some people who will never tire of their favorite oldie. Sometime in the early nmonths of 2005 I turned on WCBS-FM three times in a row and heard Mony Mony by Tommy James and the Shondells. That is not for me. I would rather hear a rarity than a burnout.
