Infinity still has its oldies format on WOGL 98.1 out of Philly. You can pick it up once you are in Central Jersey. Those of us who grew up in NY will probably not remember any of their DJs, but they are as dear to oldies fans in that area as the CBS FM DJs were to us. The exception would be Jim Nettleton, who you might remember from WABC. (And Ross Brittan from the early days of Z100.)Anyway, another station in Philly beat Infinity to the "We don't know Jack" format, calling itself "Ben" (ha ha) which is probably why Infinity couldn't do the format switch there. (By the way, "Ben" is a little easier to take than "Jack" because they throw '60s songs into their mix.) If you get into Northwest NJ, you can pick up WMTR AM 1250, which will bring back memories of oldies on AM radio in the car. And for all of us, they stream their signal at www.wmtram.com. There is also NJ 101.5 which is really a news/talk station but does an oldies format on the weekends, trying to be an imitation of WABC with "chime time" and reverb. The signal is very good even into Brooklyn. Who am I ? An ex-DJ and music / radio trivia expert who has been trying to get back in the broadcast biz part-time.
