Joanna Brown
Miss Bahamas World Joanna Brown will be an easy delegate to spot at Miss World 2009 contest which will be held in South Africa. She is after all witty, has a bubbly personality and she sure is friendly. Bahamas is yet to make its mark at Miss World but Joanna is aiming for the title - no more, no less. Her personality will surely propel her on top of the list and add a pinch of luck and a trunkful of designer dresses, she might as well come home of that sapphire studded crown on her head.
If you are the answer, what would be the question?
Who embodies sophisticated innocence, intelligence, internal beauty that surpasses the external, humility, youthfulness, optimism, and pizzazz?"?
In a sea of beautiful universal women that shall set foot in South Africa, what would make you stand out?
Radiance. I believe that it’s not enough to be physically beautiful, because as you pointed out there will be a sea of beautiful women there. However, it’s my radiance that will set me apart. I have a captivating personality, and a heart of gold which genuinely feels love for everyone. It is that special sparkle from within that will cause me to stand out in the crowd.
Any beauty secrets that you would like to share the readers of Missosology?
If I tell you, then it will no longer be a secret! [Laughs] Seriously, I would say to watch what you eat, drink lots of water, and exercise. This combination really contributes to a healthier glow.
If you could trade places with any other famous person for a week, real or fictional, with whom would it be & why?
That’s a really tough one because so many influential people come to mind, however I would have to say U. S. first lady Michelle Obama. She not only has an amazing biography but she is also a prominent female figure, which is what I aspire to be one day. We share many of the same qualities – like being outspoken and strong-willed, however she also possesses many other qualities that I hope to attain one day. She is one of the most influential woman of our age.
What is your worst quality?
I am one of nine children, and I can be very protective of my littler brothers and sisters. I am the ultimate “mother hen” – so much so that sometimes I forget that they control their own lives and will inevitably make their own decisions. It’s honestly done out of love, but I know one day they will be old enough to tell me “back off!” I just hope I won’t be too traumatized when that day comes! [Laughs]
Describe your fashion sense & style?
While I admire the fashion looks of many celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez and Kimora Lee Simmons, my personal fashion style is more of the classy, elegant look. I love sleek little black dresses that outline my curves and dark colored pumps, with just the right jewels – a la Audrey Hepburn. But don’t get me wrong, I can be just as comfortable in a pair of fitted blue jeans and a comfy yet stylish top.
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you?
Wow, first of all a Hollywood movie...totally cool! [Laughs] The person I would love to see play my role would be Jennifer Hudson. Like me, she is a passionate young woman who never gives up on her dreams. Like Jennifer, I’ve learned that life may not always give you what you expect, but you still have to give it your all, remembering that with every dark cloud, there is a silver lining. Yeah… she’d do a pretty good job of playing me!
If you were a type of food, what type of food would you be?
If I could be any food, I would be a Bahamian dish called Conch Salad. This combination of conch, onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes drizzled with herbs, spices and lemon juice, epitomizes all things Bahamian. It is full of life, quite flavorful and leaves you yearning for more. Like me, this dish is festive, spicy, and unforgettable!
If you were written about in the newspaper, on the front page, what would the headline say?
Hopefully come December, it will read JOANNA BROWN BECOMES FIRST BAHAMIAN WOMAN TO WIN THE MISS WORLD TITLE!
Lastly, a message to the worldwide visitors of Missosology.Org.
First of all thanks to the Missosology team for giving me the opportunity to be featured in this interview and share more about myself. To the Missosology fans I say, thanks for your continued support. My favorite author Dr. Myles Munroe once stated, "Ability needs responsibility to expose its possibilities.” With your prayers and support my dream of becoming Miss World will become a reality. God Bless you all!
Special thanks to everyone at the Miss Bahamas Organization. Missosology wishes Joanna all the best at Miss World 2009
