Now the goal is to make sure we remove the abuse from you... meaning the internal you. If you do not, you can be affected by the trauma for years to come. Our program (Right Living) specializes in that. We have a Right Living Principle (in Class #2 Welcome Home Soldier) that says, "To heal, you must not only remove the woman from the abuse, but you must remove the abuse from the woman." Let's work on that together so that you do not repeat, or teach chilcren how to do abuse - right? With that said, let me address your question about his statements, "You took my kids away..." "You left me with no money..." I have 1 word..."WHAT??!!" You did not take his kids from him. You are not powerful enough to make him do anything. We are all responsible for our choices and abuse is not a disease or a demon. It is a learned behavior and he is choosing to use it on you. You, as a human, have the right not to expose yourself or your children to this unsafe environment.
Next - there is a difference between true guilt and false guilt. The word is intent. Did you intend to purposely cause him this pain? Or are you just trying to make sure that you keep yourself alive (both emotionally and physically) for your children because of the unsafe choices he has made. If you intended to make him lose you, then feel bad. If however your intent was to just keep you and children safe, then do not buy into his manipulation. Consider joining the program. It is right up your alley in healing.
