Hi Sandy,
To answer your question as to why do you feel bad... In my opinion, this is a "normal" response when a relationship goes bad on account to abusive behavior. My girlfriend is going through something very similar to you. In my opinion, the reason you feel bad is because you have invested time and most importantly your emotions on this relationship, and so you feel hurt because you ARE hurt! You invested into this relationship heart and soul and now you (for your emotional well being) have decided that the relationship has to end. As Tracy has taught me, people come into our lives for a "season", we do not know how long. It could be a day, a year, a decade; this is not up to us. But no matter who enters and leaves our lives it is our job to learn the lesson. Maybe your "season" with this man is up and now it is time to learn the life lesson of what you DO NOT allow into your life! One thing I have on my I DO NOT DUE list is ... I do not due sarcasm. Tracy taught me that the definition of the word sarcasm is a cutting of the flesh, so guess what, I do not due sarcasm in my life anymore! It is amazing how my life has changed by just using my words and letting others know that I have a new rule book, and one of the rules is that I do not due sarcasm! On another note: Nobody can change over night! Change requires months of soul searching, counseling, etc. You can change your mind over night, but to change your behavior is much different. Because if he has been like this his entire life it takes time to fully change. Change and new behaviors can be great, but it can never happen over night, in a week, etc. It takes time. I would highly recommend you register for the Right Living program. It will be the most amazing 20 weeks of your life and the best part... you will run into this beautiful woman called YOU!
